The 2012 Alpine Healing Holidays for Children with Cancer Appeal

We are expanding our Vos Snowkids and Summerkids Alpine Healing Holiday programme dramatically this Jubilee Year! Children treated at the Royal Marsden, Bristol, Royal Devon & Exeter, Swindon, Oxford Radcliffe, Southampton and Princess Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Brighton will be joining our all expenses paid escorted groups to the French Alps where they will regain their self-confidence and joy of life in the exhilarating environment of Alpine Sun, glorious mountain scenery and invigorating air.

In association with our partners Ski2Freedom Foundation, we are taking groups to Alpine ski resorts  Morzine, La Plagne and La Roziere at Easter where they will be joined by our Patrons, Olympic skier Graham Bell and Snowboard gold medallist Jenny Jones, who are donating their time to give them instruction and inspiration on the ski slopes.

In July we are repeating our successful 2011 programme of Alpine Adventure at Morzine, (the children themselves raised £2938 in a sponsored white water rafting event),  and adding short sailing adventure courses, in association with our partners Sail4Cancer, for those unable to be away from home for a full week.

We are blessed with a group of hands-on trustees and volunteers who not only arrange and run these adventure programmes in the Alps but also raise the money to do them in a variety of challenging ways - racing to Mongolia; cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End, London to Paris, London to Brighton; marathon running, swimming and cycling.

Charles O'Connor-Fenton is running the Paris Half Marathon. You can sponsor him to raise £6,000 on Just Giving

 Blind Mark Attrill will do a sponsored swim of 70 lengths of the Waterside Pool, Ryde, on the Isle of Wight on 25 March.Help him raise £1,500 on Virgin Giving

Meet our trustees on the Esplanade during Cowes Week. They will be collecting there again this year.

September

He’s 78! He’s blind! He’s Determined – to go into the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest blind cycler from Lands End to John O'Groats! Don Haver, our Hon. Treasurer is in training to tandem ride into the Record Book in September. He will be helped by a number of sporting celebrities in his attempt. Watch this space for further details.
